Cycle for Health | Cycling UK

Changes is a service aiming to provide quality support for those with complex mental health needs, including Personality Disorder, who are at risk of or have offended previously. Our aim is to reduce reoffending, increase independence and encourage responsibility.

Cycling UK is the national cycling charity, running a Cycle for Health programme in West Yorkshire, funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority CityConnect programme.

Cycle for Health is a 12-week course of cycle skills training and led rides to improve health and wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem.
The course is suitable for people aged 18 or older, with long-term physical or mental health conditions, not doing regular physical activity but able to ride a two-wheel cycle for a short distance and able to
commit to 9 of the 12 weekly sessions which are 2 hours each.

A new group advocacy project run as part of Ask 4 Advocacy, for people with Mental Health Issues who wish to be heard by Mental Health Services in Kirklees. The project has been put together by advocates who found that the same issues regarding SWYPT CMHT kept coming up with many different clients, whose voices were not being heard and whose concerns are not being addressed.

The project is open to everyone and aims to hold group meetings/forums /workshops and to gather case studies and research from people in Dewsbury (and across Kirklees) to present to commissioners and service providers; to show them what it is that the service users of Kirklees want and need when it comes to mental healthcare.
